Most of the result shows that they are the same so I tried to search individually and based on Wikipedia, Skipping Rope is British English while Jump rope is American English.

Australia never struck me as a vacation dream spot, because I always have Europe on my mind. Until last December when we met up with Cosette (my wife’s cousin) and her friend Tess who just came from, you guess it, Australia.

While we were discussing about travels, etc. they suddenly blurted out that Australia is much cheaper than going to Europe… mmm… that is quite an idea… wink wink!

Before all of these we were already daydreaming about London and  Belgium since we have relatives there but did not think of Australia… damn… this is more reachable (demographically & economically).

Weeks ago, we met with them again before they went back to (Yes! you guess it right again) Australia.

I’ve been talking to Tess and she is been encouraging us to go there. She even said that they will tour us around and they’ll just make sure that it will be on their day off. Can’t stop my excitement so I started asking for stuff that is very much Australia…

When I hear Australia, this is the 1st landmark that comes to my mind. It’s like the Eiffle Tower for Paris.

Good thing Ate Zara was on time to fill the half part of the class.

When i got there, they are doing a recap from last week activity. Up to this time I still do not have an activity for the kids… im thinking, im thinking… yes! meron na…

I heard something from a kid who’s reciting and their i told myself that it is ok to recycle activity i’ll just give it a different flavor and im still within the values intended for this month…

Feeling confident, para hindi halata na ngayon ko lang na conceptualized yung activity, we arrange the sitting arrangement into age for the groupings…

Activity: Charades (Pass the message style)

Giving credit to my org in college (mitsca) where we used to played this during ‘Interaction’.

During college the message that you will relay to your teammates is based on standard charades topic. For instance, movie, tv show, event, etc. This time its about jobs (trabaho). Our values is integrity, pasok!

Mechanics:

The team will line up in a straight line and all should face the back except for the 1st person as he/she is the 1st to act. After getting the clue & knowing the word. The 1st person will tap the 2nd and act the word, then 2nd person to act to the 3rd person, and so on… The last person will be the one to run to the Kuya/Ate to tell what is the word. “No speaking”.

This maybe hard for kids, that’s why you should think of a word that is easy to act or your confident that they know. In addition, you can give clues…

August is the Month of Heroes that is why the activity lined-up is about Heroes.

As for the value for the Month its Respect & Integrity. Personally speaking i did not deliver very well on how to explain “Integrity” to the kids. What a shame!

Activity (for Junior Sagip): “If you will be a Superhero…”

This is inspired from the last National Sagip Day. Where the kids will draw a Superhero that they want to be. Of course, it should not be the existing we have like Superman & Darna rather a unique one.
They should have super powers & how do this superpowers can help others.

Based on observation fire & water are the common powers they use. They use ‘Fire’ in defeating snatchers and ‘Water’ in killing the fire on a burning house.

Activity (for Senior Sagip): Essay

The essay is about looking in there future, about the real superheroes in modern time. Using their ambition, they should tell a story on how this helped others.

The common ambitions used were Nurses or Doctors & Police or a Military.

From the great feedback from the kids last week, I was really inspired to think of an activity for our next session. As early as Wednesday, I already have an activity planned. Have shared it with ate Zara & the suggestion she gave was a big help.

Unfortunately,  I was late & I have the activities for the class. Mmmm, poor time management… Good thing ate Zara, ate Julie & ate Ruth are there to get the attendance & assign the prayer leaders…

I chose this reading as I feel that this is a good representation on the Order that God has done… yeah… nilagyan talaga ng connection…

Part 2:

Activity (for Junior Sagip): Paper Mosaic

Paper Mosaic

Materials: Art Paper, glue & photo (familiar characters was used to get the attention of the kids; Pokemon for the boys & Princess for the girls)

Procedure: They must color the photo provided but instead of using color they will use art paper & glue. Also, they are not allowed to use scissors.

Haba na ng pila…

Good thing I gave them assignments last week as I was having a hard time on thinking of an activity for this session.

Our time starts at 2pm and ends at 4pm, but usually we end up at around 5pm depending on the activity. I got there at around 1:30pm,  since I was early I ate first on the nearby store. Kwek-kwek, crispy chicken intestine, spicy dilis & RC cola… mmm…

We started at 2:30pm with an opening prayer, then recitation of there assignment…

Below are some of the slogan’s that they created… and you can see that they exerted efforts in creating this slogans;

Since only few kids attended this session, we finished the assignments earlier so we need to think for another activity… impromptu… isip muna… we grouped the kids into 3 groups… then isip ulit… finally nakaisip na…

Activity: (hindi ko ma-translate sa english)

Padamihan ng words na maiisip sa letter na ibibigay ng facilitator.

Rules:

1) No proper nouns such as names, places, foods & numbers

2) Five seconds per group

3) No repetitions

First letter ‘F’.

Wow, Me and ate Zara were impressed on the kids. Per feedback from them they enjoyed that simple activity. Sarap tuloy ng feeling….

Merienda na , closing prayer at uwian na ng kids… till next time…

at si Kuya Tuls ay may date pa… Ice age 3… hahaha

I don’t remember when was this shown here in the Philippines (either in my elementary or highschool days)… all I can remember that this was a hit at that time together with Time Quest (the one with the magical “Takure”) and this was being shown on IBC-13. But unfortunately, i don’t know the ending.. so sad.

Did she able to collect 108 pearls?

Were she able to change into a superhero form that she likes?
